This abstract circle weaving is rooted in the spirit of the prairies. Nadia has created a hand-shaped wood frame with branches from her home yard. This outer circle (imperfectly round) reflects the continuous cycles of seasons and growth: rugged, changing, and naturally uneven. Interwoven materials radiate outward from an off-centre circle, symbolizing feminine creative power expanding outward.

Using natural fibres, Nadia warped the piece with twine, weaving the inside primarily with wool-yarns sourced from Long Way Homestead, Melrose Ranch Alpaca and Big Oak Farm, as well as day-lily leaves. Earthy prairie tones move through the weaving in layered textures that evoke windswept grasslands, rich soil, running waters, and the resilience of deep roots. The weaving creates a sense of movement and grounding at once, a balance between strength and vulnerability. 

Nadia is always inspired by our connection to the land and the relationships we have with nature, this circle is an expression of the prairie life that surrounds her, and the strength found in our community roots. The piece invites us to pause and reflect on the beauty and power that surrounds us in the prairies, honouring the work of women farmers.
